Russell Connors graduated in Civil Engineering from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. Russell has over 14 years experience in the planning and execution of soft and mixed ground tunnelling works in dense urban environments across Australia and Singapore. Russell’s expertise includes Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), Slurry Shield TBMs, Sequential Excavation Methods (SEM) and hyperbaric operations (works in compressed air). Russell is currently involved with the delivery of the Adeliade Steet mined Tunnel for the the Brisbane Metro Project. The 213m long Adelaide Street tunnel is a highly complex urban infrastructure project requiring Sequential Excavation Methods (SEM) as result of the soft ground geology, relatively large tunnel cross sections, shallow ground cover and adjacent heritage listed buildings and basements.
